We collect the following information when you use Rentr:

Account information. Your email address, password, and nickname, used for registration, login, and account security.

Profile details. Gender, date of birth, status (student or working professional), school, major, education level, occupation, and annual income range, used to complete your profile and power matching recommendations.

Housing preferences. Your search status, preferred housing type, budget, desired neighborhoods or areas, and lease length, used for matching and display on your profile.

Lifestyle information. Self-reported details such as cleanliness, sleep schedule, and smoking habits, community tags, and your written answers to profile prompts, used for matching and shown on your profile.

User content. Vibe Card photos and prompt photos you choose to upload from your photo library or camera. These are uploaded to our servers and cloud storage and displayed to users you match with.

Chat messages. Text messages you send to other users, used to provide in-app messaging.

Local device data. Login credentials (tokens) and certain drafts or onboarding states are stored locally on your device to keep you signed in and improve your experience.

We do not collect your precise GPS location, contacts, or microphone audio, and we do not use advertising trackers or third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

We only request permissions when you take an action that needs them, never all at once when the app launches.

Photo library. Requested only when you choose to upload a Vibe Card or prompt photo from your library.

Camera. Requested only when you choose to take a new photo to upload.

You can decline or revoke these permissions at any time in your device settings. Doing so will not affect the rest of the app.

We use your information to register and secure your account, match you with compatible roommates, display your profile to potential matches, enable chat between users, and keep the platform safe through security and anti-fraud measures. We do not use your information for advertising.

With other users. When you match with someone, they can see the profile details, housing preferences, lifestyle information, prompts, and photos you have added to your profile. Your email, password, and private account details are never shown to other users.

With service providers. We use trusted third-party providers for cloud hosting and object storage [AWS] to operate the app. They process data only on our behalf and under our instructions.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Your data is stored on secure servers and cloud object storage located in. the United States. Data is encrypted in transit, and we apply access controls and security measures to protect it against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.
